Our Story
-An unexpected opportunity.
-An unexpected opportunity.
MusicianCares' journey began when co-founder HK Teh and his teenage son Benjamin visited Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital, Penang for a volunteer program briefing for Benjamin. During the briefing, the idea of playing piano for the cancer patients emerged. HK immediately took to social media to request a piano donation for this initiative. Within an hour, someone connected him with a piano donor.
Now, with a piano secured, HK, who is not a musician himself, only had one volunteer pianist, i.e. Benjamin. Needing more pianists to support the project, HK reached out to co-founder Samwise Loh to join the cause. Together, they envisioned a volunteer movement where local musicians could unite under MusicianCares to serve the local communities together.
Our Name
We chose "MusicianCares" with its singular "Musician" symbolizes the unified effort of all musicians coming together to care for the community.
Our Logo
Though we began with the piano, our logo features a guitar pick with a heart, symbolizing our inclusivity and welcoming all musicians (painist, guitarist, violinist, flutist, etc., etc.) who share our passion. Oh yes, we are colour blind too :-)
"Music has the remarkable ability to heal, inspire, and unite us. Through our melodies, let us bring comfort to those in need, joy to those who listen, and a sense of community to all."
